WHAT IS A ROOT CANAL RE-TREATMENT?
10-15% of endodontically treated teeth can get infected again in the future for different reasons. Infection is visible in the x-rays, sometimes there are other symptoms as pain when chewing or swollen area around the infected tooth. Sometims it can be symptom-free. To save the affected tooth, it is necessary to remove all the infected material and tissue from the root canals and desinfect the tooth from the inside. Then obturate root canals again and follow it up to 12months until the infection is gone. Sometimes antibiotics are needed to help your body fight with the infection.
